Hibachi Style Steak Fried Rice

We absolutely love eating hibachi. The amazing chef's showcasing their talents, the jokes, the fire, and of course the onion volcano! However, it gets expensive really quickly when your kids start ordering adult portions leading to a bill over $100! I've studied the chefs, asked questions, and developed my own home recipe that is consistently great!

Ingredients

  • 6 cup Prepared and Refridgerated (day old) Jasmine Rice
  • 3 10oz Strip Steak
  • 1 pkg Snow Peas
  • 1 pkg Matchstick or Medallion Carrots
  • 2 cups Broccoli
  • 5 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 whole Sweet Onion (sliced)
  • 1 pkg Sliced Mushrooms
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Oil
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp White Pepper
  • 1 tbsp Low Sodium Soy Sauce
  • 1.5 tbsp Veri Veri Teriyaki Sauce https://amzn.to/4aBtIoz
  • 1 tbsp Q'Nami Seasoning from Lane's BBQ https://amzn.to/4a98Ggx
  • 1 cup Yum Yum Sauce (homemade)
  • cup Yum Yum Sauce https://amzn.to/4qXSRQX

Instructions

  • Pre-cook your Jasmine rice the day before according to the instructions on the package. Place it in the refrigerator until you're ready to start cooking the meal. This process allows it to dry out some and prevents it from being mushy when cooking the second time.
  • Preheat your griddle. I have four burners and I used medium on the left side, medium high in the middle, and medium on the right side.
  • Add cooking oil (I use avocado oil) on the right side of the griddle and dump your veggies on top of it. Season with Qnami from Lanes BBQ or your favorite vegetable seasonings. Mix it well and leave it to cook.
  • Add butter to the left side of your griddle then add your minced garlic. Let it cook until it starts to toast then add your rice with salt and white pepper. Mix well to combine and spread it flat.
  • Season your steaks with Qnami from Lanes BBQ. You can either cube your steak in advance or sear it on both sides then cube it. Both ways have worked well for us. Keep the steak moving to sear on all sides.
  • Make a well in the middle of your rice, add some oil, and add three eggs. Mix them well to scramble as they cook then mix them into the right. I like to mix mine in when they are still a little loose.
  • Add soy sauce to taste and sesame oil. Mix this in really well and spread it all flat again. The sesame oil is probably the flavor you've been missing if you've tried this before without it. A little goes a long way!
  • Finish your steak by coating it with Veri Veri Teriyaki Sauce. I've used other sauces but keep going back to this one. It is a great blend of ginger, sesame seeds, minced onion, and teriyaki flavors.
  • Now you have to decide if you want to mix everything together or keep it separate for guests to build their own bowl!
  • We love making homemade Yum Yum sauce and you can find the recipe below. A decent store bought brand this one from Terry Ho's.
