Bacon Jalapeño Smash Burger

If you own a griddle, I'm sure smash burgers are at the top of your list of things to try! We cook them regularly because they are so quick, easy, and customizable! I rarely use the same topping twice and like to play with variations for burger sauces.

Ingredients

  • 16 oz Ground Beef 80/20
  • 4 Burger Buns Aldi Brand Brioche are our favorite.
  • 4-8 slices Cheese I love colby jack or havarti
  • 8 strips Bacon
  • 1/2 Onion
  • 2 Jalapeños
  • 3 tbsp Mayo
  • 2 tbsp Ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Mustard
  • 1 tbsp Dill Relish
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 2 tsp Burger Seasoning

Instructions

  • Divide ground beef into 8 parts and gently form into balls.
  • Thinly slice onion
  • Cut Jalapeños into 1/4 inch slices
  • Made your burger sauce combining mayo, ketchup, mustard, relish, w sauce, and garlic powder.
  • Add the bacon to your griddle or pan and turn on to medium heat
  • Flip the bacon to a new area of the griddle and put your onions and jalapeños in the bacon grease.
  • Ensuring your griddle is around 425 degrees, add each burger ball and use your smasher to press it as thin as possible. Hold the smasher down for about 5 more sections, then twist and slide it off of the beef. Repeat this process for all 8 balls.
  • Season each patty with your favorite burger seasoning.
  • Add your buns to the griddle in bacon grease to toast.
  • Once the juices rise through the beef and your patty looks cooked around the edges, carefully scrape the burgers away from the griddle surface and flip them. You should see a well developed crust on the burger surface.
  • Add a slice of cheese to 4 (or all 8) of the patties.
  • Stack the cheesed patty on top of the uncheesed.
  • Add your burger sauce to the top and bottom bun.
  • Add the patty stack to your bun and top with bacon, onions, and jalapeños.
